Guy and I decided that we were going to set a date for our wedding. Only one problem though; Guy was called to go to Africa to repair the landing gear on a Canadian Air Force Boeing 707. We didn't know how long he would be in Africa. So, we had no idea when to set the date for the wedding. I waited in Michigan for the call from him so we could set the date and finish our wedding plans. Finally it came and we had a date set, just 2 weeks away: December 21, 1996.
Guy and I were married on December 21, 1996 at Big Beaver United Methodist Church in Troy, Michigan. Our wedding was at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. It was a cold day and it had snowed the night before. Our wedding was beautiful. Guy and I both wiped away tears as we repeated our vows. "Keeper of the Stars" by Tracy Byrd was our wedding song. Our reception was at the Elks Lodge in Troy. Everyone had a great time. I even got Guy to line dance to "Achy Breaky Heart" (he hates country music, so this was a real treat!!) (hmmm hmmm, I had been drinking). Our honeymoon was at the Doubletree Suites in Troy. I moved to Trenton, Ontario with Guy on January 3, 1997. Our new lives as a married couple had begun.
