Jenni's Ceramics

I have started a new hobby. Here on base there is a ceramics club. It is so much fun. I usually go twice a week. We pour the molds and then paint the ceramics and fire them. It's a lot of work, but really worth it. First we pour the "slip" into the molds and it has to sit for about 30 minutes. The extra slip is poured out and trimmed around the edges. Then the molds sit for a while to harden. The "greenware" is then unmolded and allowed to air dry. Next we can paint the greenware with underglazes or fire it to bisque and paint it with glazes. If we paint the greenware, it is then fired to bisque and a glaze is put on top. It then goes through a final firing. If we glaze the bisque, it is then fired once more.
